Aswad ibn Amir told us, saying: Abu Bakr — that is, Ibn Ayyash — told us, from Asim, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Abu Umamah, who said: We came to him and he was sitting anointing himself inside the mosque. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When the Muslim performs ablution, sin departs from his hearing, his sight, his hands, and his feet." Then Abu Zabyah came while he was narrating to us, and said: "What has he told you?" So we mentioned to him what he had told us. He said: "Indeed — I heard Amr ibn Abasah mention it from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him," and he added to it, saying: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no man who spends the night in a state of purity, then wakes during the night and remembers Allah and asks Him for good from the good of this world and the Hereafter, but Allah, Mighty and Majestic, grants it to him."
