حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْيَحْصَبِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّمَا أَنَا خَازِنٌ وَإِنَّمَا يُعْطِي اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَمَنْ أَعْطَيْتُهُ عَطَاءً بِطِيبِ نَفْسٍ فَإِنَّهُ يُبَارَكُ لَهُ فِيهِ وَمَنْ أَعْطَيْتُهُ عَطَاءً بِشَرَهِ نَفْسٍ وَشَرَهِ مَسْأَلَةٍ فَهُوَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ فَلَا يَشْبَعُ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Yahya ibn Ishaq informed us: Ibn Lahi'a informed us from Ja'far ibn Rabi'a from Rabi'a ibn Yazid from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amir al-Yahsubi, who said: I heard Mu'awiya ibn Abi Sufyan say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'I am only a treasurer, and it is Allah, Mighty and Majestic, who gives; so whoever I give a gift to out of a willing soul, it is blessed for him; and whoever I give a gift to out of the greed of the soul and importunate begging, he is like the one who eats but is never satisfied.'
