حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ جَدِّي قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ فَقَالَ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ فَقَالَ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ فَقَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَقَالَ هَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَوْ نَبِيُّكُمْ إِذَا أَذَّنَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ.

Yahya narrated to us from Muhammad ibn 'Amr, who said: my father narrated to me from my grandfather, who said: We were with Mu'awiya when the muezzin said: 'Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great.' Mu'awiya said: 'Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great.' Then he said: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.' Mu'awiya said: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.' Then he said: 'I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.' Then he said: 'Come to prayer.' He said: 'There is no power nor strength except by Allah.' Then he said: 'Come to success.' He said: 'There is no power nor strength except by Allah.' Then he said: 'Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great.' He said: 'Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great.' Then he said: 'There is no god but Allah.' He said: 'There is no god but Allah.' Then he said: 'This is how the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him,' or 'our Prophet,' 'used to speak when the muezzin gave the call to prayer.'
