حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَهُوَ عِنْدَهُ فِي وَفْدٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ مَلِكٌ مِنْ قَحْطَانَ فَغَضِبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَقَامَ فَأَثْنَى عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّهُ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رِجَالًا مِنْكُمْ يُحَدِّثُونَ أَحَادِيثَ لَيْسَتْ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تُؤْثَرُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُولَئِكَ جُهَّالُكُمْ فَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْأَمَانِيَّ الَّتِي تُضِلُّ أَهْلَهَا فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ فِي قُرَيْشٍ لَا يُنَازِعُهُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا أَكَبَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَا أَقَامُوا الدِّينَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Bishr ibn Shu'ayb ibn Abi Hamza narrated to us, saying: my father narrated to me from al-Zuhri, who said: Muhammad ibn Jubayr ibn Mut'im used to relate that it reached Mu'awiya, while he was with a delegation of Quraysh, that 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As was saying that a king would arise from Qahtan. Mu'awiya became angry, stood up, praised Allah, Mighty and Majestic, as He deserves, then said: 'To proceed: it has reached me that some men among you relate hadiths that are neither in the Book of Allah nor transmitted from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him - those are your ignorant ones. So beware of false hopes that lead their people astray, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: This matter of authority belongs to Quraysh; no one will contest them but Allah will cast him down upon his face, so long as they establish the religion.'
