قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ قَالَ مَنْ يَكْلَؤُنَا اللَّيْلَةَ لَا نَرْقُدُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ فَقَالَ بِلَالٌ أَنَا فَاسْتَقْبَلَ مَطْلَعَ الشَّمْسِ فَضُرِبَ عَلَى آذَانِهِمْ فَمَا أَيْقَظَهُمْ إِلَّا حَرُّ الشَّمْسِ فَقَامُوا فَأَدَّوْهَا ثُمَّ تَوَضَّئُوا فَأَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ فَصَلَّوْا الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ صَلَّوْا الْفَجْرَ.

He said: Abd al-Samad and Affan told us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Amr ibn Dinar, from Nafi' ibn Jubayr ibn Mut'im, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was on a journey. He said: Who will keep watch for us tonight, so that we do not oversleep the dawn prayer? Bilal said: I will. He faced the point of sunrise, and they were struck upon their ears, so nothing woke them but the heat of the sun. They got up and performed the prayer, then they performed ablution, and Bilal gave the call to prayer, and they prayed the two rak'ahs, then they prayed the dawn prayer.
