قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِيَاسُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى فَزَارَةَ وَخَرَجْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا دَنَوْنَا مِنْ الْمَاءِ عَرَّسَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَتَّى إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا الصُّبْحَ أَمَرَنَا فَشَنَنَّا الْغَارَةَ فَوَرَدْنَا الْمَاءَ فَقَتَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَنْ قَتَلَ وَنَحْنُ مَعَهُ قَالَ سَلَمَةُ فَرَأَيْتُ عُنُقًا مِنْ النَّاسِ فِيهِمْ الذَّرَارِيُّ فَخَشِيتُ أَنْ يَسْبِقُونِي إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَأَدْرَكْتُهُمْ فَرَمَيْتُ بِسَهْمٍ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ الْجَبَلِ فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا السَّهْمَ قَامُوا فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ فَزَارَةَ عَلَيْهَا قَشْعٌ مِنْ أَدَمٍ مَعَهَا ابْنَةٌ مِنْ أَحْسَنِ الْعَرَبِ فَجِئْتُ أَسُوقُهُنَّ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَنَفَّلَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ ابْنَتَهَا فَلَمْ أَكْشِفْ لَهَا ثَوْبًا حَتَّى قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ ثُمَّ بَاتَتْ عِنْدِي فَلَمْ أَكْشِفْ لَهَا ثَوْبًا حَتَّى لَقِيَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي السُّوقِ فَقَالَ يَا سَلَمَةُ هَبْ لِي الْمَرْأَةَ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَعْجَبَتْنِي وَمَا كَشَفْتُ لَهَا ثَوْبًا قَالَ فَسَكَتَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ الْغَدُ لَقِيَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي السُّوقِ وَلَمْ أَكْشِفْ لَهَا ثَوْبًا فَقَالَ يَا سَلَمَةُ هَبْ لِي الْمَرْأَةَ لِلَّهِ أَبُوكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ هِيَ لَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَبَعَثَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ فَفَدَى بِهَا أُسَرَاءَ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَانُوا فِي أَيْدِي الْمُشْرِكِينَ.

He said: Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, who said: 'Ikrimah narrated to us, who said: Iyas ibn Salamah ibn al-Akwa' narrated to us, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, against Fazarah, and I went out with him. When we drew near the water, Abu Bakr made a night halt; then when we had prayed the dawn prayer, he ordered us and we launched the raid, and we came upon the water, and Abu Bakr killed whomever he killed, and we with him. Salamah said: I saw a group of people, among them the offspring, and I feared they would reach the mountain before me, so I caught up with them and shot an arrow between them and the mountain. When they saw the arrow, they stopped. There was a woman from Fazarah wearing a leather garment, with her a daughter, one of the most beautiful of the Arabs. I came, driving them to Abu Bakr, and Abu Bakr gave me her daughter as a special share. I did not uncover any garment from her until I arrived at Madinah; then she stayed with me, and I still did not uncover any garment from her, until the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, met me in the market and said: "O Salamah, give me the woman." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, she has pleased me greatly and I have not uncovered any garment from her." He said: So he remained silent, until the next day the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, met me in the market - and I still had not uncovered any garment from her - and said: "O Salamah, give me the woman, may your father be devoted to Allah." I said: "She is yours, O Messenger of Allah." He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent her to the people of Makkah, and ransomed with her some captives of the Muslims who were in the hands of the polytheists.
