He said: Hashim ibn al-Qasim said: 'Ikrimah narrated to us, who said: Iyas ibn Salamah ibn al-Akwa' narrated to me, who said: My father narrated to me, who said: I went on the campaign against Hawazin with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. While we were having our midday meal, most of us on foot and among us the weak, a man came on a red camel and pulled a hobbling-strap from his saddle-girth and tied his camel with it - a young man - then he came to eat lunch with the people. When he saw their weakness and the poor condition of their mounts, he went out to his camel and untied it, then made it kneel and mounted it and rode off at a gallop. A man from Aslam, one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, followed him on a gray she-camel, the best mount among the people, pursuing him. He said: I went running and caught up with him, with the she-camel's head at the flank of the camel, and I was at the flank of the she-camel; then I advanced until I was at the flank of the camel; then I advanced until I took hold of the camel's nose-rein and made it kneel. When it put its knee to the ground, I drew my sword and struck his head with it, and it flew off. Then I came, leading his mount and what was on it. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came to meet me and said: "Who killed the man?" They said: "Ibn al-Akwa'." He said: "His spoils are entirely his."
