Bahz narrated to us: 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar narrated to us: Iyas ibn Salamah narrated to us, who said: My father narrated to me, who said: We went out with Abu Bakr ibn Abi Quhafah, whom the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had placed in command over us. He said: We raided Fazarah, and when we drew near the water, Abu Bakr ordered us and we made a night halt. When we had prayed the dawn prayer, Abu Bakr ordered us and we launched the raid, and we killed at the water whomever we killed. Salamah said: Then I noticed a group of people, among them offspring and women, heading toward the mountain, and I ran in pursuit of them; I feared they would reach the mountain before me, so I shot an arrow that landed between them and the mountain. He said: Then I brought them, driving them, to Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, until I came to him at the water. Among them was a woman from Fazarah wearing a leather garment, with her a daughter of hers, one of the most beautiful of the Arabs. He said: Abu Bakr gave me her daughter as a special share. He said: I did not uncover any garment from her until I arrived at Madinah; then I stayed the night and still did not uncover any garment from her. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, met me in the market and said to me: "O Salamah, give me the woman." He said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah she pleased me greatly, and I have not uncovered any garment from her." He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, remained silent and left me. Then, the next day, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, met me again in the market and said: "O Salamah, give me the woman - may your father be devoted to Allah." He said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, she pleased me and I have not uncovered any garment from her, but she is yours, O Messenger of Allah." He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent her to the people of Makkah, in whose hands were captives from the Muslims, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ransomed them with that woman.
