قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ زَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ سُئِلَ عَنْ وُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ مَسَحَ مَالِكٌ رَأْسَهُ فَأَقْبَلَ بِيَدَيْهِ وَأَدْبَرَ بِهِمَا وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ وَقَالَ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ.

He said: 'Uthman ibn 'Umar narrated to us: Malik narrated to us, from 'Amr, from his father, that he heard 'Abdullah ibn Zayd al-Ansari being asked about the ablution of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He called for water and washed his hands, rinsed his mouth and inhaled water into his nose three times, washed his face three times, washed his hands twice each, and wiped his head - 'Uthman said: Malik wiped his head, moving his hands forward and then backward - and washed his feet, and said: "This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, perform ablution."
