قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ وَهُوَ أَحَدُ الثَّلَاثَةِ الَّذِينَ تِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ يَوْمًا عَاصِبًا رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ أَمَّا بَعْدُ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ فَإِنَّكُمْ قَدْ أَصْبَحْتُمْ تَزِيدُونَ وَأَصْبَحَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ لَا تَزِيدُ عَلَى هَيْئَتِهَا الَّتِي هِيَ عَلَيْهَا الْيَوْمَ وَإِنَّ الْأَنْصَارَ عَيْبَتِي الَّتِي أَوَيْتُ إِلَيْهَا فَأَكْرِمُوا كَرِيمَهُمْ وَتَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ مُسِيئِهِمْ.

He said: Abu al-Yaman told us, he said: Shu'ayb informed us, from al-Zuhri, who said: 'Abdullah ibn Ka'b ibn Malik al-Ansari informed me — and he was one of the three whose repentance was accepted — that some of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed him that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, went out one day with his head bound, and said in his sermon: "Now then, O company of the Muhajirun, indeed you have come to increase in number, while the Ansar have come to remain no more than their present state which they are on today. The Ansar are my private repository to which I have taken refuge, so honor their honorable ones and overlook their wrongdoers."
