قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ أَنَّ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الدِّمَشْقِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ قَالَ كُنْتُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا بِقُرْصٍ فَكَسَرَهُ فِي الْقَصْعَةِ وَصَنَعَ فِيهَا مَاءً سُخْنًا ثُمَّ صَنَعَ فِيهَا وَدَكًا ثُمَّ سَفْسَفَهَا ثُمَّ لَبَّقَهَا ثُمَّ صَعْنَبَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَأْتِنِي بِعَشَرَةٍ أَنْتَ عَاشِرُهُمْ فَجِئْتُ بِهِمْ فَقَالَ كُلُوا وَكُلُوا مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ أَعْلَاهَا فَإِنَّ الْبَرَكَةَ تَنْزِلُ مِنْ أَعْلَاهَا فَأَكَلُوا مِنْهَا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا.

Attab narrated to us: Abdullah b. al-Mubarak narrated to us: Ibn Lahi'ah informed us: Yazid — that is Ibn Abi Habib — narrated to me, that Rabi'ah b. Yazid al-Dimashqi informed him, from Wathilah — that is Ibn al-Asqa' — who said: I was among the people of the Suffah, and one day the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, called for a loaf, broke it into a bowl, poured hot water on it, then added fat, then crumbled it and mixed it together, then shaped it into a mound, then said, "Go and bring me ten men, of whom you are the tenth." So I brought them, and he said, "Eat, and eat from the bottom of it, and do not eat from the top of it, for blessing descends from its top." So they ate from it until they were full.
