Husayn b. Muhammad narrated to us: Abu Uways narrated to us: al-Zuhri narrated to us, from Abu Umamah b. Sahl b. Hunayf, that his father told him that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set out, and they traveled with him toward Makkah, until, when they were at Shi'b al-Khazzar in al-Juhfah, Sahl b. Hunayf bathed — he was a fair-skinned man, handsome of body and skin. Amir b. Rabi'ah, brother of Banu Adi b. Ka'b, looked at him while he was bathing, and said, "I have never seen the like of today, nor the skin of a secluded woman." Sahl then collapsed. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was informed, and it was said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, can you do something for Sahl? By Allah, he cannot raise his head, and he does not regain consciousness." He said, "Do you suspect anyone regarding him?" They said, "Amir b. Rabi'ah looked at him." So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, summoned Amir and grew angry at him, and said, "Why does one of you kill his brother? When you see something that pleases you, why do you not invoke a blessing?" Then he said to him, "Perform ablution for him." So he washed his face, his hands, his elbows, his knees, the extremities of his feet, and the inside of his lower garment into a vessel; then that water was poured over him — a man poured it on his head and back from behind him, tipping the vessel behind him — and he did that to him, and Sahl set out with the people, with no harm remaining in him.
