Affan narrated to us: Yahya b. Zurarah al-Sahmi narrated to us: My father narrated to me, from my grandfather al-Harith b. Amr, that he met the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, at the Farewell Pilgrimage and said, "May my father be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, seek forgiveness for me." He said, "May Allah forgive you all." He said: And he was upon his she-camel al-Adba'. He said: So I went around to the other side of him, hoping he would single me out apart from the people, and I said, "Seek forgiveness for me." He said, "May Allah forgive you all." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, what of the fara' and the 'atirah offerings?" He said, "Whoever wishes may perform fara' and whoever wishes need not; whoever wishes may perform 'atirah and whoever wishes need not; but there is a sacrifice due upon the sheep." Then he said, "Indeed your blood and your wealth are sacred to you, as sacred as this day of yours in this land of yours." Affan said once: Yahya b. Zurarah al-Sahmi narrated to me: My father narrated to me, from his grandfather al-Harith.
