Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, Shu'bah told us, from Abu Bishr, from Yusuf ibn Mahak, narrating from Hakim ibn Hizam, who said: I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that I would not fall except while standing upright [i.e., remain steadfast]. He said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, a man asks me to sell him something, and I do not have it with me; shall I sell it to him?" He said, "Do not sell what is not with you."
