Al-Nadr ibn Isma'il Abu al-Mughirah told us, Ibn Abi Layla told us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which prayer is most excellent?" He said: "Length of standing." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, and which jihad is most excellent?" He said: "One whose horse is hamstrung and whose blood is shed." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, which emigration is most excellent?" He said: "One who abandons what Allah, Mighty and Majestic, dislikes." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, which of the Muslims is most excellent?" He said: "One from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are the two necessitating things?" He said: "Whoever dies not associating anything with Allah enters Paradise, and whoever dies associating something with Allah enters the Fire."
