حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرٌ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَمْسِكُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَمْوَالَكُمْ وَلَا تُعْمِرُوهَا فَإِنَّ مَنْ أَعْمَرَ شَيْئًا حَيَاتَهُ فَهُوَ لَهُ حَيَاتَهُ وَبَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ.

Kathir told us, Hisham told us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Hold on to your properties and do not give them away as life-tenancies, for whoever is given something as a life-tenancy grant, it belongs to him during his life and after his death."
