حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّكُمْ الْيَوْمَ عَلَى دِينٍ وَإِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ بِكُمْ الْأُمَمَ فَلَا تَمْشُوا بَعْدِي الْقَهْقَرَى.

Khalaf ibn al-Walid told us, Abbad ibn Abbad told us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha'bi, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You are today upon a religion, and I will boast of your numbers before the nations, so do not walk backward after me."
