حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ حَتَّى يُعْرِبَ عَنْهُ لِسَانُهُ فَإِذَا أَعْرَبَ عَنْهُ لِسَانُهُ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا.

Hashim told us, Abu Ja'far told us, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, from al-Hasan, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Every child is born upon the natural disposition until his tongue can express itself. When his tongue expresses itself, he is either grateful or ungrateful."
