حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُلْتَحِفًا بِهِ وَرِدَاؤُهُ قَرِيبٌ لَوْ تَنَاوَلَهُ بَلَغَهُ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ سَأَلْنَاهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا أَفْعَلُ هَذَا لِيَرَانِي الْحَمْقَى أَمْثَالُكُمْ فَيُفْشُوا عَلَى جَابِرٍ رُخْصَةً رَخَّصَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ جَابِرٌ خَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فَجِئْتُهُ لَيْلَةً وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَعَلَيَّ ثَوْبٌ وَاحِدٌ فَاشْتَمَلْتُ بِهِ ثُمَّ قُمْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ قَالَ يَا جَابِرُ مَا هَذَا الِاشْتِمَالُ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ وَعَلَيْكَ ثَوْبٌ وَاحِدٌ فَإِنْ كَانَ وَاسِعًا فَالْتَحِفْ بِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ ضَيِّقًا فَاتَّزِرْ بِهِ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abu Amir told us, Fulayh told us, Sa'id ibn al-Harith told us, he said: We entered upon Jabir ibn Abdullah while he was praying in a single garment, wrapped in it, with his cloak nearby — had he reached for it, it would have been within his reach. When he finished with the greeting of peace, we asked him about that, and he said: "I only do this so that foolish people like you may see me, and it become widely known that this is a concession the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, allowed." Then Jabir said: "I went out with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, on one of his journeys, and I came to him one night while he was praying in a single garment, and I had on a single garment, so I wrapped myself in it and stood beside him." He said: "O Jabir, what is this wrapping when you pray with a single garment on you? If it is wide, wrap yourself in it; if it is narrow, tie it around your waist."
