حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ فِي الدُّعَاءِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ إِبِطَيْهِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ.

Abd al-Samad told us: Shu'ba told us: Thabit told us, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to raise his hands in supplication until the whiteness of his armpits could be seen. I mentioned that to Ali ibn Zayd, and he said: That was only during the prayer for rain. I said: Did you hear it yourself from Anas? He said: Subhan Allah (of course).
