Ubaydah narrated to us, from Humayd al-Tawil, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, went out on a cold morning, and there were the Emigrants and the Ansar digging the trench, so he said: "O Allah, indeed the good is the good of the Hereafter, so forgive the Ansar and the Emigrants." And they answered him: "We are the ones who pledged allegiance to Muhammad for jihad as long as we remain, forever."
