حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى إِحْدَى خِصَالٍ ثَلَاثَةٍ تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى مَالِهَا وَتُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى جَمَالِهَا وَتُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى دِينِهَا فَخُذْ ذَاتَ الدِّينِ وَالْخُلُقِ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكَ.

Ali ibn Abdullah narrated to us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us: Muhammad narrated to us, from Sa'd ibn Ishaq, from his paternal aunt, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A woman is married for one of three qualities: a woman is married for her wealth, a woman is married for her beauty, and a woman is married for her religion. So choose the one with religion and good character — may your right hand be in the dust."
