حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا إِلَى لَحْيَانَ بْنِ هُذَيْلٍ قَالَ لِيَنْبَعِثْ مِنْ كُلِّ رَجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا وَالْأَجْرُ بَيْنَهُمَا.

Abu 'Amir told us, 'Ali - meaning Ibn al-Mubarak - told us, from Yahya, who said: Abu Sa'id, the freedman of al-Mahri, told me, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent an expedition against Lihyan of Hudhayl, saying, "Let one of every two men set out, and the reward shall be shared between them."
