Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, Shu'bah told us, from Abu Maslamah, who said: I heard Abu Nadrah narrating from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "This world is green and sweet, and Allah, Mighty and Sublime, is making you successors in it, to see how you will act. So beware of this world, and beware of women, for the first tribulation of the Children of Israel was concerning women." Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi told us, Shu'bah told us, from Sa'd ibn Ibrahim, who said: I heard Abu Umamah ibn Sahl narrating from Abu Sa'id, and he mentioned the same meaning as Ghundar's hadith from Shu'bah concerning the judgment of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, except that he said: "I judge that their fighting men be killed and their offspring taken captive." He said: "You have judged among them with the judgment of Allah," and he said another time, "You have judged among them with the judgment of the King," or "the Angel" — Abd al-Rahman was uncertain. Affan told us this, and he said "the King." Hajjaj told us, Shu'bah informed us, and he mentioned the same as Ibn Ja'far's hadith: "their fighting men are to be killed and their offspring taken captive," and he said: "You have judged with the judgment of the King." Abu Umamah ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf said this.
