Yazid told us, Fudayl ibn Marzuq informed us, from Atiyyah al-Awfi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri — I said to Fudayl, "Did he attribute it to the Prophet?" He said, "I think he did attribute it" — he said: "Whoever, upon going out to prayer, says: 'O Allah, I ask You by the right of those who ask You, and by the right of this walk of mine, for I did not go out in insolence or vanity, nor for show, nor for reputation — I went out fleeing Your displeasure and seeking Your good pleasure. I ask You to save me from the Fire and to forgive me my sins, for none forgives sins but You' — Allah will appoint for him seventy thousand angels who will seek forgiveness for him, and Allah will turn His countenance toward him until he finishes his prayer."
