Sufyan told us, Ibn Abi Sa'sa'ah - Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman - told me, from his father, who said: Abu Sa'id said to me, while he was in a chamber: "O my son, when you give the call to prayer, raise your voice with the adhan, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'There is nothing that hears it - jinn, human, or stone - but will testify for him.'" And he said another time: "O my son, when you are in the open wilderness, raise your voice with the adhan, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'No jinn, human, or stone, nor anything at all that hears it, but will testify for him.'" His father said: Sufyan is mistaken about his name; the correct name is Abd al-Rahman ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Sa'sa'ah.
