890/1163(حسن صحيح)عن أنس بن مالك قال: دخلت على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وهو على سرير مرمول بشريط تحت رأسه وسادةٌ من أدم حشوها ليف، ما بين جلده وبين السرير ثوب، فدخل عليه عمرٌ فبكى، فقال له النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:"ما يبكيك يا عمر؟"قال: أما والله ما أبكي يا رسول الله ألا أكون أعلم أنك أكرم على الله من كسرى وقيصر، فهما يعيثان فيما يعيثان فيه من الدنيا، وأنت يا رسول الله بالمكان الذي أرى! فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" أما ترضى يا عمر أن تكون لهم الدنيا، ولنا الآخرة؟". قلت: بلى يا رسول الله، قال:"فإنه كذلك".
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Anas ibn Malik said: I entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) while he was on a bed woven with palm fiber straps. Under his head was a pillow of leather stuffed with palm fiber. Between his skin and the bed was a cloth. Umar entered upon him and wept. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'What makes you weep, O Umar?' He said: 'By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I do not weep except that I know you are dearer to Allah than Kisra and Caesar, who indulge in the worldly pleasures they indulge in, while you, O Messenger of Allah, are in the condition I see.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Are you not pleased, O Umar, that theirs is the worldly life and ours is the Hereafter?' I said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'That is how it is.'
