Musaddad narrated to us, Bishr narrated to us, al-Jurayri narrated to us. And Mu'ammal narrated to us, Isma'il narrated to us. And Musa narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us. All of them from al-Jurayri, from Abu Nadrah, who said: A shaykh from the tribe of Tufawah narrated to me, saying: I was a guest of Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) in Madinah, and I did not see any man among the Companions of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) more diligent or more generous to his guests than him. One day, while I was with him and he was on his bed with a pouch containing pebbles or date-stones, and below him was a black slave-girl of his — he was glorifying Allah with them. When he finished what was in the pouch, he would toss it to her, she would gather them, put them back in the pouch, and hand it back to him. He said: Shall I tell you about myself and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)? I said: Indeed, please do. He said: Once I was suffering from fever in the mosque when the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came and entered the mosque. He said: 'Has anyone seen the Dawsi youth?' — three times. A man said: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! He is suffering from fever in a corner of the mosque. So he came walking until he reached me, placed his blessed hand upon me, and spoke kind words to me. I stood up. He then walked to his place of prayer and faced the people. With him were two rows of men and a row of women, or two rows of women and a row of men. He said: 'If Satan causes me to forget anything in my prayer, let the men say Subhan Allah and let the women clap.' Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) prayed and did not forget anything in his prayer. He then said: 'Stay in your places, stay in your places.' Musa added: 'Here.' Then he praised and glorified Allah the Exalted, then said: 'To proceed' — then they all agreed — then he turned to the men and said: 'Is there any man among you who, when he goes to his wife, closes his door, draws his curtain, and conceals himself with the veil of Allah?' They said: Yes. He said: 'Then he sits afterwards and says: I did such-and-such, I did such-and-such.' They were silent. Then he turned to the women and said: 'Is there any among you who speaks of such things?' They too were silent. Then a young girl — Mu'ammal said in his narration: a girl of young age — knelt on one knee and raised herself towards the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) so that he might see her and hear her words. She said: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Indeed they (the men) do speak of it, and they (the women) also speak of it! He said: 'Do you know what the likeness of that is? The likeness of that is a she-devil who met a devil in the road and he fulfilled his desire with her while the people were looking on. Behold! The perfume of men is that whose fragrance is apparent and whose colour is not apparent. Behold! The perfume of women is that whose colour is apparent and whose fragrance is not apparent.' Abu Dawud (upon him be mercy) said: From here I memorised from Mu'ammal and Musa: 'Behold! No man should lie with another man, and no woman should lie with another woman (unclothed under one cover), except with one's child or parent.' And he mentioned a third matter which I have forgotten. This is in the hadith of Musaddad, but I did not retain it as well as I wished. And Musa said: Hammad narrated to us from al-Jurayri, from Abu Nadrah, from al-Tufawi.

ہم سے مسدد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے بشر نے، کہا ہم سے جریری نے۔ اور ہم سے مؤمل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے اسماعیل نے۔ اور ہم سے موسیٰ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے حماد نے۔ سب نے جریری سے، انہوں نے ابونضرۃ سے بیان کیا، مجھ سے طفاوہ قبیلے کے ایک بزرگ نے بیان کیا، فرمایا: میں مدینہ میں حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کا مہمان ہوا تو میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے اصحاب میں سے ان سے زیادہ محنتی اور مہمان نواز کوئی نہیں دیکھا۔ ایک دن میں ان کے پاس تھا اور وہ اپنے تخت پر تھے، ان کے پاس ایک تھیلی تھی جس میں کنکریاں یا گٹھلیاں تھیں اور ان کے نیچے ان کی ایک سیاہ فام باندی تھی۔ وہ ان سے تسبیح پڑھ رہے تھے، جب تھیلی کی چیزیں ختم ہو جاتیں تو وہ اسے باندی کو پھینک دیتے، وہ اسے جمع کرکے تھیلی میں ڈال کر واپس کر دیتی۔ فرمایا: کیا میں تمہیں اپنا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا واقعہ نہ سناؤں؟ میں نے عرض کیا: ضرور سنائیں۔ فرمایا: ایک مرتبہ مجھے مسجد میں بخار ہوا، اتنے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لائے اور مسجد میں داخل ہوئے۔ ارشاد فرمایا: "دوسی نوجوان کو کسی نے دیکھا؟" — تین مرتبہ۔ ایک شخص نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! وہ مسجد کے ایک کونے میں بخار میں مبتلا ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم چل کر تشریف لائے یہاں تک کہ میرے پاس پہنچے، اپنا دستِ مبارک مجھ پر رکھا اور مجھ سے شفقت کی بات فرمائی۔ میں اٹھ کھڑا ہوا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم چل کر اپنی نماز والی جگہ تشریف لے گئے اور لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے۔ آپ کے ساتھ مردوں کی دو صفیں تھیں اور عورتوں کی ایک صف، یا عورتوں کی دو صفیں اور مردوں کی ایک صف۔ ارشاد فرمایا: "اگر شیطان مجھے نماز کی کوئی چیز بھلا دے تو مرد تسبیح کہیں اور عورتیں تالی بجائیں۔" پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے نماز پڑھی اور نماز کی کوئی چیز نہ بھولے۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: "اپنی جگہوں پر رہو، اپنی جگہوں پر رہو۔" موسیٰ نے یہ اضافہ بیان کیا: "یہاں۔" پھر اللہ تعالیٰ کی حمد و ثنا بیان فرمائی، پھر ارشاد فرمایا: "حمد و صلاۃ کے بعد" — پھر سب متفق ہیں — پھر مردوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور ارشاد فرمایا: "کیا تم میں سے کوئی ایسا ہے کہ جب وہ اپنی بیوی کے پاس جائے تو دروازہ بند کر لے، پردہ ڈال لے اور اللہ کے پردے سے چھپ جائے؟" لوگوں نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں۔ ارشاد فرمایا: "پھر اس کے بعد بیٹھ کر کہتا ہے: میں نے ایسا کیا، میں نے ویسا کیا۔" لوگ خاموش رہے۔ پھر عورتوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور ارشاد فرمایا: "کیا تم میں سے کوئی ایسا بیان کرتی ہے؟" وہ بھی خاموش رہیں۔ تو ایک نوجوان لڑکی — مؤمل نے اپنی حدیث میں کہا: ایک نوبالغ لڑکی — اپنے ایک گھٹنے پر اٹھی اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی طرف سر اٹھایا تاکہ آپ اسے دیکھ سکیں اور اس کی بات سن سکیں۔ اس نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! بے شک وہ (مرد) بھی بیان کرتے ہیں اور یہ (عورتیں) بھی بیان کرتی ہیں! ارشاد فرمایا: "جانتے ہو اس کی مثال کیا ہے؟ اس کی مثال ایسے ہے جیسے شیطانی عورت بازار میں شیطان سے ملے اور اس سے اپنی حاجت پوری کرے اور لوگ دیکھ رہے ہوں۔ خبردار! مردوں کی خوشبو وہ ہے جس کی مہک ظاہر ہو اور رنگ ظاہر نہ ہو۔ خبردار! عورتوں کی خوشبو وہ ہے جس کا رنگ ظاہر ہو اور مہک ظاہر نہ ہو۔" حضرت ابوداؤد فرماتے ہیں: یہاں سے میں نے مؤمل اور موسیٰ سے یاد رکھا: "خبردار! کوئی مرد کسی مرد کے ساتھ اور کوئی عورت کسی عورت کے ساتھ (ایک لحاف میں بے لباس) نہ لیٹے، سوائے اولاد یا والدین کے۔" اور انہوں نے تیسری بات ذکر کی مگر میں بھول گیا۔ یہ مسدد کی حدیث میں ہے لیکن میں نے اسے اتنا یاد نہیں رکھا جتنا میں چاہتا تھا۔ اور موسیٰ نے کہا: ہم سے حماد نے جریری سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے ابونضرہ سے، انہوں نے طفاوی سے۔
