The best of affairs is the middle course.

لو احسن احدكم ظنه بحجر لنفعه

If one of you had good expectations even of a stone, it would benefit him.

نية المؤمن خير من عمله

The intention of a believer is better than his deed.

من عشق فعف فكتم فمات مات شهيدا

Whoever falls in love, remains chaste, conceals it, and dies, has died a martyr's death.

دفن البنات من المكرمات

Burying daughters is among the noble deeds.

من مات فقد قامت قيامته

Whoever dies, his Day of Judgment has already begun.

حاسبو انفسكم قبل ان تحاسبوا

Hold yourselves accountable before you are held accountable.

اول من يكسى بعد النبيين والشهداء بلال

The first to be clothed after the Prophets and martyrs will be Bilal.

علماء امتى كانبياء بنى اسرائيل

The scholars of my Ummah are like the Prophets of the Children of Israel.

من قلد عالما لقى الله سالما

Whoever follows a scholar will meet Allah in a state of safety.

آفة العلم النسيان

The bane of knowledge is forgetfulness.

من خرج فى طلب العلم فهو فى سبيل الله حتى يرجع

Whoever goes out seeking knowledge is in the way of Allah until he returns.

فقيه واحد اشد على الشيطان من الف عابد

One scholar of jurisprudence is harder upon Satan than a thousand worshippers.

فضل العالم على العابد كفضلى على امتي

The superiority of a scholar over a worshipper is like my superiority over my Ummah.

من كتب عنى علما او حديثا لم يزل يكتب له الاجر ما بقى ذالك العلم او الحديث

Whoever writes down knowledge or a hadith from me, reward will continue to be written for him as long as that knowledge or hadith remains.

اجودهم من بعدى رجل علم علما فنشر علمه

The most generous person after me is a man who learned knowledge and then spread it.

اذا كان يوم القيامة وضعت منابر من ذهب... ينادى منادى الرحمٰن اين من حمل الي امة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم علما يحمله اليهم يريد به وجه الله اج...

فان خيانة الرجل فى علمه اشد من خيانته فى ماله

Indeed a man's betrayal in his knowledge is more severe than his betrayal in his wealth.

لا تطرحو الدرفى افواه الكلاب يعنى العلم

Do not throw pearls — meaning knowledge — into the mouths of dogs.

استودعوا العلم الاحداث

Entrust knowledge to the young.
