من صلى ليلة الفطر مائة ركعة...

Whoever prays one hundred units on the night of Eid al-Fitr... (lengthy hadith).

كنا ناكل ونشرب و نغتسل ثم نخرج الي المصلي

We used to eat, drink, and bathe, and then go out to the prayer ground (on Eid al-Fitr).

زينوا اعيادكم بالتكبير

Adorn your Eids with the takbir (saying Allahu Akbar).

زينوا العيدين بالتهليل والتقديس والتحميد و التكبير

Adorn the two Eids with tahlil (saying La ilaha illallah), taqdis (glorification), tahmid (saying Alhamdulillah), and takbir (saying Allahu Akbar).

انه كان يكبر حتي يسمع اهل الطريق

Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say the takbir so loudly that the people on the road could hear him.

كان يكبر فى العيدين اربعا تكبيره على الجنائز

He (the Prophet, peace be upon him) used to say four takbirs in the Eid prayers, like the takbirs of the funeral prayer.

صلى العيد ركعتين لا يقرا فيهما الا بام الكتاب

I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, on the days of Eid with a spear in front of him.

انهم اصابهم مطر فى يوم عيد فصلي بهم النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم صلاة العيد فى المسجد

Rain fell upon them on an Eid day, so the Prophet, peace be upon him, led them in the Eid prayer inside the mosque.

خير امتي الذى... اذا سافروا قصروا

The best of my Ummah are those who... shorten their prayers when they travel.

يا اهل مكة الا تقصروا فى اقل من اربع برد من مكة الي عسفان

المتم للصلاة فى السفر كالقصر فى الحضر

The one who completes his prayer during travel is like the one who shortens his prayer while at home.

من صلى فى السفر اربع ركعات كمن صلى فى الحضر ركعتين

Whoever prays four units during travel is like the one who prays only two units while at home.

من صلى فى السفر اربعا اعاد الصلاة

Whoever prays four units during travel should repeat the prayer.

لا تقصر الصلاة الا فى حج او جهاد

The prayer should not be shortened except during Hajj or Jihad.
